Airline Promo Codes Proliferating
Are you one of those people that googles for promo codes before you book your flight? Well, apparently the airlines are making it easier and increasing promo code availability, hoping to siphon you away from those affiliate sites that they’re forced to pony up a commission to every time you book through them.
The above article points to AirfareWatchdog.com as a good site that aggregates the codes, but a quick tour through the site seems to show that it’s simply just pointing you through to sites like Orbitz and Travelocity. Your best bet still seems to be to go directly to the airline sites themselves and explore their “deals” and “specials” pages to find the best deal. Another annoyance is that AirefareWatchdog quotes prices pre-taxes and fees, which is pretty infuriating when you realize prices basically double when those are added in. (Morocco for $638? Oh wait, make that closer to $1,100 once everything’s said and done.) What is this, a car dealership?
