The End For Cuba, Or Just The Beginning?
Fidel’s fading away, Obama’s in office, and for many, the Bay of Pigs could just as well be a description for some sort of spring break locale. As this article explores, Cuba, meanwhile, still clings to its nostalgic past, down to its vintage cars and outdated revolutionary slogans painted on building walls.
For many, this is the Cuba they came to see; for many, this is a Cuba not likely to last. This may be bad news for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the famed history of this largest of the Caribbean islands. For others — mainly those dependent on the floundering economy — change is welcome news and cause for celebration. No matter the outcome, it’s probably safe to say that things will never be the same, for better or for worse.
