Coming Soon To A Plane Near You: Miliarty-Style Seating

Did you catch the latest in the continuing saga of the ever-shrinking seating space on airplanes? Design firms around the world are racing to fulfill the airliners’ desire to pack more people into less space in an effort to save money. The newest idea? Military-style seating where passengers sit facing each other in narrow rows. (This coming off of Ryanair’s possible introduction of standing-only seats.)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if it means a cheap ticket I’ll do it. Want me to help co-pilot the plane? I’m your man. Need someone to help push the plane to get it going? For a discount, I’m bringing my gym shoes. Want me to pass out cold beverages? Drop my fare and show me the ice machine.
