New York To Orlando: “Suck It”

It was announced this week that New York City had 45.25 million tourists last year, making it the U.S.’ top city for travel for the first time since 1990, surpassing Orlando, Florida.
Of these visitors, 36.7 million came from the U.S., while a healthy 8.6 million came from abroad (though they spent five times as much — here’s NY Mag’s “Top 25 New York Shopping Destinations” for all you hoping to increase that number).
Per Mayor Bloomberg: “They want to go to a place where people are nice . . . And I hear again and again and again from friends from around the world that come here, and they say, ‘You know, I never knew New Yorkers were such nice people.’ ” Though generally true, I think the mayor needs to spend a little more time in the subway during rush hour to see if he’d make that same statement.
