I like your take on Marriot&#039;s quote about travel writing having run its course. I agree, there&#039;s always going to be a new and interesting way to write about travel. People were probably saying the same thing after Twain too.  
  
I also like your take on outsider&#039;s writing guide books. I agree, you almost need that fresh-eyed look at a destination to write a good guide. It&#039;s kind of like when people visit you in New York. You want to go to that best dive bar/off-the-beaten-path place, but you know your visitor really want to head to the packed club and to the sights they&#039;ve always wanted to see. I think it&#039;s key to find that right balance. </description>
