Awards Season: that time of the year when all eyes turn to the Grammys, the Golden Globes, and the Oscars. But what about for the rest of us with travel on the mind? Well, we’re in luck, because late winter also means it’s travel video awards season. TripFilms.com has just announced their nominations and voting is open to the public for the 2011 Trippy Awards that honors the year’s best in travel video creation.
Forget Colin Firth, Darren Aronofsky and Natalie Portman; we’ve got Captain John, Travel Bug Robert and Captain and Clark up for the top prize this year. Voting runs through March 6, 2011, and the winner takes home not some crappy gold statue but rather an 8-day trip for two to Brazil and Argentina. And another reason this awards contest is better: No one has to wear a tux for the ceremony! Although, I wore one when I was nominated last year. Sadly, I found out the day of the announcement of the winners there was no ceremony. But, I have to say, I was the best dressed in line at Chipotle that afternoon.
