10 Best Bookstores To See Around The World

Let’s face it, anyplace in the world you travel, chances are you end up ducking into a bookstore at some point during your travels, either as a reprieve from the weather outside or as a chance to get an insight into the local culture.

For a few ideas of stores to check out during your travels, Lonely Planet recently put together this list of the best 10 greatest bookstores around the world, including San Fran’s famed City Lights Books (a favorite among the beat crowd) to Librería El Ateneo Grand Splendid in Buenos Aires, which given its former identity as a movie theater, is arguably the most glamorous of the list.

    And if you buy a book from Shakespeare & Co. in Paris (a must-visit for any writer!), it has a stamp from the bookstore inside. Talk about a wonderful souvenir!

    I saw this article recently and thought of two stores that I’d put on the list:
    Book People in Austin, TX is pretty amazing and, although not the greatest store on earth, What The Book? in Seoul, South Korea was a godsend during my time there!
