The 10 Drunkest Countries In The World
Every year, come late March and early April, masses of King Penguins begin their yearly trek to the same spots in and around Antarctica, some walking as far as 75 miles, to meet potential mates and to procreate. Some breeding grounds, like Lusitania Bay in Macquarie Island near Antarctica, attracts upwards of 175,000 breeding pairs.
In the human world we call this activity “Spring Break.” In honor of this storied tradition, I thought we’d take a look at the drunkest countries in the world, as per the newly-released 2011 statistics from the World Health Organization. Before reading on, guess who’s number one. Germany? England? South Sudan (what up newest country in the world!)?
The answer is Moldova. Yes, the tiny country of 1.5 million succesfully put away such runner-ups as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine. (The United States came in at a paltry 56th place if you were wondering.)
Here’s a breakdown of the top 10. Plan your next vacation accordingly!
1) Republic of Moldova
2) Czech Republic
3) Hungary
4) Russia
5) Ukraine
6) Estonia
7) Andorra
8) Romania
9) Slovenia
10) Belarus
