In Ireland there was an old tradition of ‘Seanachai’ (Gaelic term pronounced shanakee meaning storyteller). They would wander from place to place telling stories, reciting poetry and singing songs in return for bed and lodgings for the night. A magical experience for those living in simpler times. When I travel, I never tire of listening to other people’s experiences and soaking up stories full of human charm. That magic is reproduced here with ‘Foreign Flavours’ by Writers Abroad. I’m convinced they must all have a little of the Seanachai in them.

Got my copy yesterday and can’t stop dipping into it every since. Some very well-written short stories, great articles and I’ve already bookmarked some recipes. I’m going to order some more for Christmas presents.
