Travel Channel Announces Three New Shows (2 About Cars, 1 About A Legless Man)

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Travel Channel announced that it has ordered three pilots scheduled to premiere later this year. Of the three shows, two are car-based: Barn Finds (car expert Corky Coker travels the back roads of the Deep South searching for rare American cars and automotive memorabilia) and Power Trip (host Jason Harper travels the world by car).

The third that was greenlighted is a show I would actually watch, and which features legless author, photographer and adventurer Kevin Michael Connolly, a traveler who we profiled on the site about a year ago (“Legs Would Only Get In The Way”).

In case you missed that article, Connolly was a 2007 X Games silver medal winner who used his earnings to travel the world, which then turned a photography addiction, a photo exhibition, a book and now his own travel show (see, it is easy after all). Per the press release, here are some details about the Kevin Michael Connolly Project:

Kevin Michael Connolly Project (one hour pilot) Produced by Crazy Legs Production with Travel Channel’s David Gerber as Executive Producer

Kevin Michael Connolly is an author, photographer and self-proclaimed thrill seeker who was born without legs – but he’s never let that get in his way. Connolly is on a mission to discover all this world has to offer – new cultures, meeting remarkable people and tackling difficult physical challenges. Getting around with only his hands and his skateboard, viewers will experience what makes Connolly an inspiration to us all.

Congrats to Connolly and we’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on the premier date.
