One Castle. Seven Ghost. Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland, was the location for a recent Most Haunted episode. This brilliant castle was built in 1777, but the original buildings of the compound date back to 1165, and could be one of the most haunted places on earth.

Each of the ghosts have their own reported identities and chosen places of haunting within the castle, but if you choose to spend the evening within the thick stone walls, a likely sighting will happen in either the upstairs  bedroom or the main staircase, a symbol of the ghost’s universe between two worlds.

Legends circle about who it is that is haunting the castle; a piper’s music is often heard, a bedroom chair may house a young girl, a former architect may stop by for a visit, and others.

The Castle is open every day from April to November, adult admission around £13. Tours close at 5.00pm, which is just fine with me. I’ll happily visit… during the day.
