What Do Yoga And Kilts Have In Common?

Thursday, September 10, 2009

What comes to mind when you think of Scotland? Haggis, ghosts, the questionable fashion of the kilt?

Well why not yoga? That’s the aim, anyway, of two gurus who recently purchased a Scottish isle with the intention of turning it into an international destination for yoga practitioners.

The Guardian’s got the scoop on this story, which includes the plans to change the island’s name from Little Cumbrae to Peace Island, and the head guru’s past claims that yoga practice can cure HIV and cancer.

What do Little Cumbrae’s (er, excuse me, Peace Island’s) residents think of the transformation? Well, there aren’t too many of them, so likely they’ll have little choice but to sit back and enjoy the show.
