Here’s My Interview For The “When In Roam” Podcast
When Christine Maxfield, host of the When In Roam: Conversations with Travel Writers podcast, asked if I wanted to spend an hour with her in the storeroom of New York’s Hostelling International one late-fall Saturday afternoon, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. Turns out she wanted me there to record an interview with her for her podcast (I knew that, really), which is now available to listen to online or via iTunes by clicking here.
Besides having a great time and discussing our interesting surroundings (the storeroom is, not surprisingly, the quietest place in the hostel), Christine and I discussed some of my fondest travel memories (thus far), a little about The Expeditioner’s Guide to the World, that time I got a little sick in Mozambique, my new favorite food in the world, and the benefits (and potential drawbacks) of talking to strangers in New York City.
My takeaway from the interview was this: if Christine invites you into any sort of closet, storeroom or annex, you should do it, I guarantee you’ll have a blast.
