I still use Lonely Planet, actual paper books. They are super useful when it come to logistics and when you are in a remote place without an Internet connection and can’t check things on my phone, but I do agree that agree that this new idea and trend of firing people will be like karma, which always get back your ass!

Robin: That's exactly right, what happens when the people generating all that great and well-research content go by the wayside in favor of cheaper, easier sources of information? I hope they understand that it's the writers' hard work and expertise that people are paying for, and they can hopefully support theses writers in all formats, whether it be print, digital, video, or whatever else comes down the road.

The worry for me, as someone for whom LP is still an important departure point for my trip research, is the implication of this sale for content generation. I could live with a more and more digital LP but if they’re firing writers they may not be the go-to people anymore for quality information and insight.
