Is it me or do you notice how there seems to be an onslaught of articles published about a destination you’re traveling to just before you go? I understand, this is completely unscientific, irrational, and probably a tad ego-centric to think this, but I swear, there are some sort of travel writing gurus in the cosmos that seem to be very good at doing this before every trip.<\/p>\n

My trek to Barcelona is 17 days away (but who’s counting?), and I’ve run into guides for the best rooftops in Barcelona<\/a>, videos about everything from proper beach etiquette in the city to a guide to Park Guell<\/a>, as well as\u00a0this recent guide from BootsnAll<\/a> to the best eats around town for a true taste of Catalan cuisine.<\/p>\n

Some favorites include\u00a0Tortilla de Patatas, a devilishly simple dish consisting of a heart-stopping number of eggs whipped up into a thick omelet and filled with fried potatoes and onions — and like some of the great foods in the world, most likely a product of peasants making do with what little food they had — and botifarra, a sausage that is a favorite in Catalan.<\/p>\n
