You can count on seeing an oversized men’s shoe, a life-sized photo of Walt Whitman, and windows shaped like those on a boat when you visit famed poet Pablo Neruda’s three houses, all within the Chilean capital of Santiago or a short trip from there, as detailed recently by the LA Times<\/em><\/a>. Having known little about the man (embarrassingly enough), I was quickly turned into a Neruda convert myself shortly after visiting his house<\/a> in Santiago, La Chascona.<\/p>\n

There’s something addicting about his work that has made fans of millions around the world, and even inspired one of the best Italian films of the last half-century, Il Postino<\/em>. And just like how certain pets look like their owners, the same can be said about Neruda and his famed\u00a0houses (the other two are called La Sebastiana and Isla Negra).
