Qantas, Australia’s national carrier, recently had its credit rating reduced to junk<\/a>, is in the midst of laying off 1,000 jobs<\/a> and is quickly being edged out by competitors that are backed by national governments<\/a>. But not to worry, the airline’s flight attendants have new uniforms, so it’s got that going for it.<\/p>\n

Qantas recently announced a new look for its uniforms, which will be premiering on the December 10 QF12 flight from Los Angeles to Sydney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As the Sydney Morning Herald<\/em> describes them, “[t]he new Martin Grant-designed outfits, with their fitted fuschia, ‘Qantas red,’ ruby red and French navy paneled shift dresses, jaunty trilby hats and red-lined navy trench coats are a departure from the indigenous print, loose-fitting dresses and blazers designed by [Peter] Morrissey in 2003.” They also look like they were designed to be worn by extras in Chicago<\/em>.<\/p>\n

News on whether the new designs will have a considerable dent in making up the $300 million Qantas projects to lose for the half-year ending Dec. 31, 2013 is still to be determined.<\/p>\n
