Something tells me Mumford & Sons recently tried to get away from it all by taking a trip to South Africa, but as anyone who has gone to the country knows, it’s hard not to become completely immersed in the music of the nation. The result was a subsequent six-show South African tour and a new \u201cmini-album,\u201d Johannesburg<\/a>, (recorded with Baaba Maal, The Very Best, and Cape Town\u2019s favorites, Beatenberg), a five-song love letter of sorts to the group\u2019s travels from Cape Town to Joburg, and a travelogue of the musicians they met along the way.<\/p>\n

The unique mini-album was recorded last February where the group spent two days and nights in the studio with some of Africa’s leading musicians assembled by Swedish producer Johan Hugo of The Very Best<\/a>, whom the band first met in 2010 on their Laneway Festival tour in Australia.<\/p>\n
