I swear to god, I just met two guys this weekend that happened to be in town visiting my friend who were doing just this: hiking the length of the Appalachian Trail, all 2,178 miles, 14 states, and approximately 5 million footsteps of it<\/a>. A feat that only about 4,000 others have accomplished since the trail’s opening in 1937.<\/p>\n

As described in this article in the UK Times<\/a>, for those Paris-Hilton types who abhor the idea of camping, there are series of luxurious three-sided lean-tos along the entire length of the path where you can shack up in luxury for the night if you need the shelter. The bathrooms, I assure you, are nowhere close to that level of fanciness.<\/p>\n

I asked one of the guys over a cold PBR between bands, “So what’s next?”<\/p>\n

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Maybe get a job. I haven’t figured it out yet.”<\/p>\n
