It was announced this week<\/a> that New York City had 45.25 million tourists last year, making it the U.S.’ top city for travel for the first time since 1990, surpassing Orlando, Florida.<\/p>\n

Of these visitors, 36.7 million came from the U.S., while a healthy 8.6 million came from abroad (though they spent five times as much — here’s NY Mag’s “Top 25 New York Shopping Destinations”<\/a> for all you hoping to increase that number).<\/p>\n

Per Mayor Bloomberg: “They want to go to a place where people are nice . . .
