Of Nepal\u2019s 26,000,000 people, there are more than 100 different ethnic groups speaking 93 different languages and dialects. Perhaps better known to the outside world for its impressive mountains, what ends up towering far over Everest and friends, are those 26 million\u00a0living in its shadows.<\/p>\n

This Pology photo spread<\/a>, incredibly shot by Anya Vaverko<\/a>, does an amazing\u00a0 job of capturing the emotions of the Nepalese and the land they call home. If pictures are worth a thousand words, portraits are worth far more, and in this case, they help bridge each of those 93 languages.<\/p>\n

From the weather-hardened eyes of the rural farmer in the first shot<\/a>, to the mischievous back alley grin<\/a> in picture number four, each tells a dramatic story through their composition. My favorite<\/a>, pictured above, is of a baby girl\u2019s contemplative, far-off\u00a0stare. She is\u00a0observing\u00a0her unfamiliar surroundings set in stark contrast to the brightly colored clothing of her mother\u2019s friends.<\/p>\n
