Obama and the U.S. Congress are about to go all shock and awe on American tourism this year with the passage of, wait for it . . . oh this title’s going to blow you away . . .\u00a0 The Travel Promotion Act!<\/p>\n
No need for cutesy, clever names here. Just good ‘ol American elbow grease (and, oh yeah, a $10 Biennial fee charged to all visitors who are from one of the 35 countries included in the Visa Waiver Program<\/a>) is all it’s gonna take to create the nonprofit Corporation for Travel Promotion that, per CNN<\/a>, “will promote the United States as a travel destination and explain travel and security policies to international visitors.”<\/p>\n The goal is to reach a budget of $200 million (half of which would come from private sector contributions), and become the world’s largest national tourism communications program, helping to attract 1.6 million new visitors and generate $4 billion in related spending.<\/p>\n Here’s hoping Branson, Missouri, receives no benefit from this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Obama and the U.S. Congress are about to go all shock and awe on American tourism this year with the passage of, wait for it . . . oh this title’s going to blow you away . . .\u00a0 The Travel Promotion Act!
