Rain or shine, summer means music. Most memories surrounding easy-season-living has been captured in my mind by a song or playlist or a concert that we had to find some way of getting to. The sun and heat conjure up images of plastic cups and dirty feet. From the corners of my mind.<\/p>\n

So, when this article from Rough Guides<\/a> on the top-ten summer music festivals came out, my knees got a little rubbery and my toes started tapping.<\/p>\n

This is a must-read list for music lovers, or more aptly\u00a0music-goers,\u00a0everywhere and I would recommend jumping on tickets\u00a0fast because\u00a0they are selling-out (I already checked most of them.)<\/p>\n

To top the list, and rightfully so,\u00a0is Bonnaroo<\/a>, a\u00a0sustainable (green-friendly)\u00a0mega-festival happening\u00a0in Manchester, Tennessee. This festival runs June 10-13, and is hosting big names like Jay-Z and Damian Marley with Nas, rounded off\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0likes of\u00a0Kings of Leon, The National, The Black Keys and Tokyo Police Club. Four days of pure, summer-music love.<\/p>\n

Personally, a close runner-up for an amazing festival to see would be the Oxegen Festival<\/a> in Punchestown,\u00a0Ireland, happening July 9-11. This line-up is similar to Bonnaroo\u00a0because of its headliners, but with\u00a0a little more Canadian-spice added: Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire. So, I like it.<\/p>\n

Both those festivals are a little on the pricey side, but would be worth every minute.<\/p>\n

Another notable to make the list\u00a0would be Benicassin<\/a> in Spain, where the ever epically nostalgic The Prodigy will be playing along with the Dirty Projectors and DJ Shadow.<\/p>\n

If you happen to be a parent, refusing to forgo festival fun, apparently there is a kid-friendly fiesta happening in Denmark. Roskilde<\/a> has a Junior Pavilion where you can drop the kids off before heading to the grown-ups’ stage to watch Prince, Patti Smith and the super-group Them Crooked Vultures. Seems a little tame, though.<\/p>\n

There will always be a festival to hit up at some time, somewhere and some season, but these are just some that have made an impression on someone.<\/p>\n

Sounds like summer to me.<\/p>\n
