How many places in the world have you traveled to and not run into an Aussie? That’s what I though, it doesn’t happen. It’s like trying to go on a trip and not see a single McDonald’s: good luck. Well, it turns out, it’s not all in your head, according to The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> Australians are traveling now more than ever, with over seven million overseas trips taken by them in 2010 through October alone.<\/p>\n

This is an increase of 14.6% from last year. So what gives? The most likely reasons for the uptick is an appreciating Aussie dollar and an increase in airline service from the continent. Both of which are good news for travel agents, but not so much for local tourism, which relies on a favorable exchange rate.<\/p>\n

However, good news is on the horizon: Oprah to the rescue! Per Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) managing director Christopher Brown: “On the demand side, the world’s best saleswoman is about to arrive in Australia . . . Oprah represents a promotional and endorsement platform that is second to none. Make no mistake, it is a coup that she has chosen Australia for her first international foray, and this will raise the profile of Australia in the United States and in the scores of other countries where her show is broadcast.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
