And only recently did I learn about my favorite Brit\u2019s new connection to the world of travel.<\/p>\nCalming my newfound addiction to the Science Channel, I learned about a show that begins at the end of the month, An Idiot Abroad<\/em>, the brainchild of Gervais. Honestly, I haven\u2019t been this excited to watch television since I found that one video tape in my brother\u2019s sock drawer in the early ’90s.<\/p>\nSince all of us Yanks are in the dark regarding this British show, here\u2019s the show\u2019s description I found on the Sky Network\u2019s website:<\/a><\/p>\nRicky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are outraged that Karl has written off the Seven Wonders claiming they\u2019re all \u201ca bit s**t\u201d having never seen any of them with his own eyes. They\u2019ve thrown down the gauntlet to send him around the globe to force him out of his comfort zone. Stephen wants the experience to broaden Karl\u2019s mind and change his outlook on the world. Ricky wants Karl to hate every minute of it for his own amusement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The series comes to the Science Channel Saturdays at 10p.m. EST beginning on January 22. After watching this video of Karl’s shenanigans in China (like his experimenting with Kung-Fu around 2:44), I\u2019m picking up a six-pack of my favorite micro brew and staying in that night. Because, let\u2019s face it, most travel shows are little more than neatly packaged destinations or ideas, and this looks to be something else.
